Summer is dawning!! or not..

Standard

Yay!! It’s starting to get warm again! Well, kinda, it was really hot and humid for one day and the day after that, it started to get kinda cold…and then it rained.
Oh well, I thought to myself, I still eat icecream, wear shorts and walk bare feet, the only thing that’s missing is the endless trips to the beach and family friends’ picnics at the park.
Also, school isn’t still out, but being it the fourth term, the teachers are getting more slack, giving us hardly any homework, hosting in-school carnivals and letting us watch reruns of Celebrity Apprentice.
But alas, the good times always end..soon the long awaited summer sun will trun her scorching rays on us and give us sunburns and headaches. Thinking about it makes me miss winter…but in reality, the winter wind gives us no comfort, especially on school days.

All Flavour jellybeans

Standard

Yesterday, my friend at school brought those all flavour jellybeans from Harry Potter. She gave some people some without telling them the flavour. So I ate mine and it turned out to be Sausage flavoured…..didn’t taste much like the original sausage, more to the sweet side. So when it was time for seconds, I felt a great rush of adrenaline and I took the rotten egg flavour. The colour was creamy with yellow patches. “It won’t be a great deal” It thought besides, the sausage one hardly tasted like an actual sausage. So I ate it…big mistake!
You know when, you stand in an enclosed space and someone farts and you have to be in that enclosed space for an insane amount of time? Well, in my case, the enclosed space was my mouth, so with every bite I took, it tasted exactly like a rotten egg. Moral of the story? Don’t eat every flavour jellybeans that have dodgy flavours, eat the good flavours and don’t trust your friends in givivng you the good flavours either..

Artificial Jellyfish

Standard

After being a little bored, I set out on the dangerous waters of the internet and surfed the net, there I found a blog that taught you how to make your own jellyfish: http://bhoomplay.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/diy_jellyfish_eng/ so, I decided it would be a good idea to fool my brother and say that I caught the jellyfish from the toilet.

After many tries, I finally made it. I then showed it to my brother, him, being an innocent 5 year old, he believed that it was a real jellyfish. I then showed my achievment to mum and got a opposite result “This could spill if any of your brothers opens it” So I had to chuck it. Damn. It looked pretty good too. But the most terrible thing was..That I forgot to take a picture!! That thought only struck me after I chucked the jellyfish into the manky, godknowswhatsthere abyss.

The lost feeling

Standard

I have just realised that, after countless assignments, homework tasks etc, I have lost the feeling of, relaxation, calmaty and such. I just forgot it..
Even in the shower, I get in, then after a while I become paranoid about the loss of time. Is this healthy? I mean for us, as students, getting so much stress put on us that we either crack, go into depression or turn to robots. Holidays are pretty soon but I don’t think that 2 weeks off school will help me, it will be like a teaser… a week to get accustomed to the feeling of freedom, another week to experience it and BAM! Back to school time…Ugh..such is life..

Down on life…

Standard

Its been hectic, too hectic. My life is too busy, I occasionally forget to live… I have school with never ending assignments that are given at the same time, extra homework, chores, and yeah…its busy. Not even enough time to focus on my own, personal goals. That is how I give up. Damn, I just realized this..after many futile attempts at succeeding my goals. I know I probably sound like a moaning gramps or a typical teenager (the first part) but I need to stop and pick myself up.

Best Me Self-Hypnosis

Standard

I used the Best Me self- hypnosis technique. The whole idea is that you ‘hypnotise’ yourself into being so motivational about a particular goal, that you achieve it. My goal was to be able to swim well the next day at school (Im a terrible swimmer!!) It worked. A little. The next day I swam and I swam better than I usually did. The hypnosis technique also helps you to relieve stress so I keep using it when I’m free. I’m pretty sure its safe so I’m going to tell you guys how I did it! (Please note that the credit shouldn’t go to me, I found out how to do it on a range of other sources)
Oh, and the Best Me is actually an acronym to help you remember how to do it.

Find a quiet space with subdued lighting (I was in my bedroom with only the moon as my light) lie down in a comfortable position where you can stay for half an hour.

Belief Systems; Start of by thinking to yourself; Imagine you are lying down at the beach… Note: The ‘beach’ scenario is just an example you can set this wherever you feel relaxed and safe (I did it at a lavender meadow)

Emotions; Say something that makes you calmer, relaxed and refreshed; Peacefulnes of the waves are soothing you down…

Sensations; Now describe the setting using the senses; touch, hear, see and smell; Feel the warm sand beneath you…

Thoughts; Now think about going deeper into hypnosis; repeat; sinking down, shutting down, a few times.

Motives; Explain what you are trying to do; The deeper you go the more relaxed and happy you feel…

Expectations; Say what goal you are trying to achieve; Make it believable (Repeat letters B,E,S,T with the goal) Like if you’re trying to win a race, picture yourself running etc.

At the end, say something like ‘When I count to 5, I will wake up feeling happy, refreshed and relaxed… 1 feeling happy, 2 really relaxed, 3 nearly there, 4 feeling refreshed, 5 I will wake up now and I will be able to focus on any activity.

Tips:
Speak slowly
Speak as if youre speaking to yourself (Be true!)
You will get better with practise!
Make sure the goal is realistic…
Set one goal per session.

Hope this helps as much as it had helped me!!!

Japanesse honorifics

Standard

Ever wondered what all the “san” and “sensei” is about in manga? Well those are pretty much equivalent to ‘Mr., Miss and Sir. But the Japanesse are wayy more strict and not using a honorific for a stranger is considered very rude.
-san: This is very common and it means Mr., Miss, Ms., or Mrs. This can be used when talking to strangers and aquintances.

-sama: This is one level higher than “-san” and is used to talk to elders or people that need greater respect.

-dono: This commes from the Japanesse word for ‘lord’ and it is even higher than ‘-sama’

-kun: This is used at the end of boys’ names to express familiarity. It can be used by men among friends or when addressing someone younger.

-chan: This is used to express familiarity towards girls, little boys, pets or between lovers. It encourages cuteness.

Bozu: It refers to a boy and in English it would mean ‘kid’ or ‘squirt’

Sempai/Senpai: This is used among a group or a organisation to address a upperclassmen or aperson that have been in a group longer.

Kohai: This the opposite of ‘sempai’ and used to adress an underclassmen.

Sensei: It is a teacher or a master of any profession or art.

*Blank* This can only be used between very close friends or family, unless the other person has given permission. Not placing a honorific when you haven’t earned that much of a relationship, can be very insulting and rude.

I hope that now you can look at manga and understand those honorifics.
